Issuance and renewal of practising certificates

All registered professional individuals and firms shall apply for practicing certificates which are renewable every year and no person shall be allowed to practice unless they hold a valid practicing certificate.

The practicing certificate stipulates the following:-

• Category of registration and fieldof engineering of which the holder may practice; and

• In cases of engineering firms, name of the Registered Engineer representing the firm on engineering matters; and

• Office of operation, whether as an employer or proprietor; and

• Year of issuance after which one may not practice unless the certificate is renewed, subject to section 25 of the Engineering Council Act [Chapter 27:22].
